With depressing regularity, White Supremacy – whether in the guise of the police or some neighborhood vigilante – takes another Black man’s or woman’s life.

We who were born white must stop seeing the Black body as “Other” and move toward a world of equity and trust.

I generally create these images from available press photos and quotes from the family. In the cases of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, I began with a couple of my pre-existing paintings and drawings, respectively. Then I massaged onto them their faces from press photos with digital treatments, and incorporated the appropriate texts.
